The origin of Father’s Day dates back to the first decade of the 20th century, when a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd decided to celebrate her father, William Jackson Smart, an American Civil War veteran who raised her and her five siblings alone.
Dodd proposed celebrating a Father’s Day as a special day to honor all fathers and their importance in their children’s lives.
Since then, Father’s Day has spread rapidly around the world, with many countries starting to celebrate it on different dates of the year.
Father’s Day is an annual celebration dedicated to all fathers and their contributions in their children’s lives and is meant to be an occasion to show appreciation and gratitude to one’s biological fathers or to that male figure who has played an important role in the lives of the own children.
It’s a day for children to show appreciation and gratitude for their love, support, and guidance.
There are many activities you can do to celebrate this special day, but what really matters is the gesture of love and affection you show your dad on this special day.
Best wishes to all fathers from SPII!
See you next time,
