The Strasaronno 2024 was a great success, with over 2.400 participants. The running event, organized by our “neighbors” from the CLS Social Cooperative, started at Via Don Volpi and Via Montoli, providing a beautiful backdrop of runners surrounding our company!
Among the participants was a determined group of people from SPII, aged between 22 and 52, who took part in the race: Davide Valisi, Andrea Bertazzoni, Lorenzo Lualdi, Federica Formato, Alessandro Lupi, Francesco Colombo, Sara D’Arone, and Antonia Faiella.
Davide Valisi, SPII’s Operations Manager and “coach” for the intense training sessions held throughout the year at Lura Park during lunch breaks, completed the race in 53:17 and was pleased with his performance: “The adrenaline, the enthusiasm of the participants, and the applause along the route energized me and reminded me why I gave my all to complete these 10 km on a Sunday morning.”
Andrea Bertazzoni, Product Designer, finished with an excellent time of 49:33 and commented: “Before I started working at SPII a year ago, I ran inconsistently. I joined the running group on my second day at work, and now I can’t do without our weekly training sessions. The results are visible!”
Lorenzo Lualdi, the youngest in the group and a mechanical engineer at SPII, completed the race in 57:37: “The Strasaronno was my first real test after a year of training with friends and colleagues. A year filled with runs and circuits, often at dawn, sacrificing lunch breaks or evenings after work. This race represents a starting point for me to continue improving, challenging myself and the sedentary lifestyle of daily life.”
Federica Formato, Project Coordinator, finished with a time of 59:18: “I didn’t make it to the podium, but for me, it was a victory. I aimed to finish under an hour, and I succeeded. Consistency and discipline always pay off, both in sports and in work!”
Alessandro Lupi, from SPII’s production department in Gerenzano, achieved a time of 59:09 and said: “It was a fantastic experience, sharing a passion for sports, the joy of being together, and testing ourselves with cheerfulness. I can’t wait for the next edition!”
Francesco Colombo, responsible for SPII’s industrialization, recorded the best time in the group with an impressive 40:23: “I’m very satisfied with my physical performance! I aim to finish under 40 minutes for the next edition.”
Sara D’Arone, logistic manager, with a time of 59:59, and Antonia Faiella from customer care, who finished in 1:00:37, expressed their happiness and satisfaction with their results.
SPII’s CEO, Silvio Zuffetti, also wanted to express his appreciation for the event: “We are proud to have neighbors like CLS, who once again managed to engage the entire city of Saronno and its surroundings. Besides being a great supplier for us, their social commitment, which has promoted employment and social inclusion initiatives for 40 years to ensure the dignity of people with disabilities, is an example and inspiration for all of us.”
Once again, the Strasaronno proved to be a memorable event that united sports and the community, demonstrating how rewarding it can be to share experiences and challenges together. We look forward to participating in the next edition, ready for new adventures and to renew our passion for sports!
